Snowman in the Forest

Come join us for a day of fun wintry activities along the picturesque National Wild & Scenic Clarion River within Cook Forest State Park.  Various activities will be held at the new River Pavilion by the playground on River Road approximately  1-mile up-river from the RT36 Cooksburg Bridge:

1130am – Chili Cook-Off (hot & mild divisions)

1130am-230pm – carriage rides, sledding, snowman building, ice skating (ice skates available)

1200-100pm – Snowshoe interpretive hike within the old growth forest along Cook Trail, meet at the new River Pavilion

100pm – Happy Dog Contest

Come sample the chili during the ‘Free Chili Cook-Off’, that is, after the judges have tried some first.  Hot chocolate and   coffee will be on hand to help take the chill out of your bones.  Enjoy a wonderful day among family and friends in Cooksburg’s winter wonderland.  Event sponsored by the Cook Forest Vacation Bureau.

    Cook Forest State Park will host a series of living history events depicting life during the French & Indian War.  Highlights of this full two-day encampment include children’s programs, woodland natives, cannon and musket firing demonstrations, sutler camp, council and trading events, nationally renowned living historians, French & Indian War era artisans, and live tactical engagements.  Every battle is different!  Take a walk back in time at the Sawmill Center for the Arts to view British, Colonial, French, and    American Indian re-enactors as they portray lifestyles of the 18th century.

     

  • 14-06-26 All day

    Come celebrate America’s 250th birthday as you walk back in time in our to observe, and possibly sample, historical cast iron cooking from our nation’s past.  State park educators from North Central and Western PA will be dressed in period clothing preparing period dishes that relate back to their park from our nation’s founding to the late 1800’s.  This is a one-time-only new park event that you will NOT want to miss!  Located at our River Cabin area, just upstream from our new River Pavilion along River Road about 1 mile up-river from the RT36 Cooksburg Bridge.
