Fluttering in the Forest
All day06-08-24100 Route 36, Cooksburg, PA 16217Join park intern, Morgan Cumberland, as we hike along Toms Run trail to discuss butterflies and dragonflies of the forest! We’ll make stops along the way at our reduced mowing areas to see what we can spot. This is a relatively flat 2-mile hike. Bring water and wear your hiking clothes!

Clear Creek Valley Hike
All day08-08-24Clear Creek State Park, Clear Creek Road, Sigel, PA, United StatesJoin the park naturalist at the extra car parking lot near the bridge in the campground to hike Truby trail, Sawmill trail and the Clear Creek trail to make a 2-mile loop back into the campground. This is a more difficult hike with steeper inclines and drops throughout these three trails. Please bring water, wear bug spray and wear your hiking apparel.

Leave it to Beavers Movie

Join the park naturalist at the amphitheater to learn if beavers need good water quality to survive or if they can survive in bad water quality. We will be watching a 50-minute PBS film at the amphitheater and there will be beaver pelts for you to touch.

Searching for Herps' in the Clarion River Valley
All day09-08-24100 Route 36, Cooksburg, PA 16217Summer is a great time of year to go out looking for snakes, frogs, salamanders, and turtles. We will start our car-pool at the Park Office to help the park naturalist survey herp’ hot spots along the Clarion. Participants must be able to traverse steep muddy slopes, high weeds, and rocky terrain. Sturdy walking stick, hiking boots, and long pants are advised.

Echoes of the Bugle

Join the park naturalist at the amphitheater to talk about the elk herd that we have in Pennsylvania. We will learn how this elk herd came to be as well as how it is doing today. We will look at size comparisons of elk to deer as well as their eating habits.
