Cook Forest State Park and the Sawmill Center for the Arts will host a series of living history events depicting life during the French & Indian War. Highlights of this full two-day encampment include children’s programs, woodland natives, cannon and musket firing demonstrations, sutler camp, council and trading events, nationally renowned living historians, French & Indian War era artisans, and live tactical engagements. Every battle is different! Take a walk back in time at the Sawmill Center for the Arts to view British, Colonial, French, and American Indian re-enactors as they portray lifestyles of the 18th century. The Pidgeon sisters have been replaced by the two Constanzuela brothers. But the hilarity remains the same.

Walk with Friends: Old Logging Road-Rhododendron Trail
Please meet at the Log Cabin Environmental Classroom to shuttle to hike on a loop of the Old Logging Road and the Rhododendron Trails. We’ll discuss characteristics of Old Growth Forest and tree identification as we walk through this ancient forest. People & pet friendly leashed dogs are welcome.

Visit the beautiful Laurel Fields near Beartown Rocks and enjoy an evening wildflower walk. Learn all about the wildflowers we encounter on our walk and their uses in traditional foods and medicines.

Kids of all ages, come join the park naturalist as we become forensic detectives in the mysterious case of the owl pellet! Learn how and what owls eat and get hands on experience with their interesting “leftovers.” Please meet at the Nature Center.
